Pika and Kling both advertise a $0 starting point, but their current published free plans answer very different questions. On August 20, 2026, we checked Pika’s pricing page, Kling’s official plan guide, and Kling’s Credits Policy. Pika documents 80 monthly credits, commercial use, and no-watermark downloads on Basic. Kling’s Basic card lists no monthly Credits and no commercial use, while its policy reserves watermark removal for premium functions. Neither tool has had a free-plan download inspected by us.

Pika Publishes a Recurring Allowance; Kling Does Not
Pika’s $0 Basic card lists 80 monthly video credits. Its rate table prices a five-second
480p Pika 2.5 text-to-video or image-to-video generation at 12 credits. That makes the public
math straightforward: 80 ÷ 12 = 6 full clips, or about 30 seconds of 480p video.
Kling’s current official plan guide takes the opposite approach: its $0 Basic card lists no monthly Credits. The separate Credits Policy describes event login credits, but says the amount is subject to the platform announcement. An unspecified event grant is not a recurring allowance, so we leave Kling’s free video-per-month figure as Not published instead of inventing a credit count or a seconds estimate.
Their Published Watermark Terms Point in Different Directions
Pika’s Basic card explicitly says “Download videos with no watermark.” That supports a reported clean label, and Pika also lists commercial use on the same $0 card. It does not prove that a file is clean: we have not generated and examined a Basic download ourselves.
Kling’s policy instead says watermark removal is a premium-only function. Its current paid cards include “brand watermark removal,” whereas the Basic card does not. That supports a reported watermarked label for Basic. It is still documentation, not an export test, so the result remains reported rather than firsthand.
The Paid Comparison Is Less Simple Than a Price Tag
Pika’s current checked page lists no-watermark downloads on Basic at $0. Kling places brand watermark removal on Standard and above. Kling’s official guide currently displays three Standard figures: a $6.99 first-subscription offer, an $8.80 next-renewal amount, and $10 as the shown list price. We record the offer structure rather than call the temporary first-month price Kling’s durable cost.
For an unpaid test that needs a published recurring credit allowance and vendor-documented clean downloads, Pika is the more legible option. For Kling, the essential uncertainty is not model quality; it is the absence of a published Basic credit total and a directly tested free-file result.
